Does WPforo or Asgaros plugin slow down your wordpress blog

2019-03-05

If you have a blog and decided to install the WPforo or Asgaros plugin on it, you should be aware that if you display a blog page, the page load is going to be slowed down by the forum plugin.

This is due to the design of WordPress. Everytime you load a page of a wordpress installation, wordpress checks the code of every installed plugin. Thus, even if you don’t display a forum page, WordPress reads the code of your plugins dedicated to the forum.

The solution

Install a first wordpress installation for your blog only and install a second wordpress installation for your forum. Since those two installations will be separated the plugins dedicated to the blog (like the newsletter) will not slow down the forum and the plugins dedicated to the forum (like special user permissions) will not slow down the blog.
