We extensively tested SEO plugins for WordPress and we observed the snippet titles, the descriptions that were displayed in google search results, the results in search console for 10 years now.
We concluded that whatever people say about SEO, it is useless to guess the Google behavior towards canonical URLs, titles tags and meta titles. There is only one thing that makes sense TIME. If you install a SEO plugin and if your website gets a good ranking in Google search console, don’t modify the settings and keep your SEO plugin.
We were unable to link the choice of a SEO plugin to a Google ranking. We also found that theoritically some SEO plugins like SEO framework could be really good looking at the HTML code but we discovered there was an issue with snippet titles that we could not explain.
At the end of the day, we understood that it was a waste of time to look for the best WordPress SEO plugin. It is better to focus on vocabulary and content among other things.
