How to set up 301 redirects on Namecheap for SEO?

Login at namecheap, go to your domain, change the DNS to the Namecheap basicDNS. Then click on the Advanced DNS tab.

  • On the left side, choose URL redirect record, then type “www”, then the destination URL with a “/” at the end, then choose 301 permanent redirect.
  • On the left side, choose URL redirect record, then type “@”, then the destination URL with a “/”, then choose 301 permanent redirect.

These settings will ensure that the google juice will flow through the redirection to the new URL.

Here is a redirection example of what you should see:

The result should be a 301 redirect from mydomain.com/a-test-url to yournewdomain.com/a-test-url
