Our review of classified ad themes and plugins for WordPress

We investigated all the classified ad themes from EnvatoMarket and also classified themes and plugins for WordPress that we could find online.

We found that it was very difficult to find a suitable classified ad theme for several reasons. Many themes have too many pictures. If you run a classified ad theme you are likely to have a lot of traffic. Consequently, you need the web page size to be as small as possible. However, if there is a huge picture at the top of your web page it is going to consume a lot of bandwidth. Then, there are a lot of classified ad themes with unnecessary CSS animations. There were also classified ad themes with a large google map. A google map embed slows down the page load.

If you look at the classified ad themes, you can see that the web designers wanted to impress the viewer but those themes aren’t functional to quickly find a classified ad. For example, many themes don’t show subcategories of ads. It requires to press a button to access the subcategories. On the other hand, you can see that craiglist has a list of subcategories to quickly access a subcategory. 

Craiglist is a model

Craiglist is the number one classified ad website on earth. This means the Craiglist website design prove itself. This is the best if you want to be successful with a classified ad website. The homepage of craiglist looks simplistic and unattractive but when people are looking for classified ads, they aren’t looking for a beautiful website. They are looking for information. To find a classified ad on craiglist, you just need to do few clicks. By the way, Craiglist seems to be a dummy website for many people but it is a fully responsive website.
