Server location

The datacenters are Los Angeles in California, Denver in Colorado, Chicago in Illinois or Amsterdam in the Netherlands. A plan comes with minimum 12GB of DDR RAM.

Storage

Every dedicated server has at least 4 drive bays and up to 12 drive bays so that you can set up any raid you want from RAID 0 to 10. You can also choose onboard Hardware RAID or software RAID. Oh, I forgot one think there is also space for an additional backup drive.

Network

There are no small network adapters at Sharktech. They offer dedicated servers with 1 Gbps speed or 10 Gbps including a minimum 10TB monthly data transfer. A Sharktech server comes with at least 5 IP address.

Operating System

You can install CentOS, Fedora, Ubuntu, OpenSUSE, Debian, FreeBSD, XenServer and also MS windows server 2008, 2012, 2016 web, standard, enterprise or Datacenter edition. Cpanel or DirectAdmin control panel can be installed on a server.

Security

The dedicated server is on a private VLAN. It means you are less likely to see your IP address stolen by someone during a reboot. There will be no unsolicited packets received by your server. On the other hand, using tcpdump, I already discovered that a dedicated server could receive many unsolicited packets from other servers of the local network at LeaseWeb.

On top of that, every plan comes with a free DDOS protection of 40 Gbps. DDOS quite difficult to manage on your own because you have to use a rate limiter and monitor your server traffic. It is good to have at least one protection upfront against this issue.
