When you install a classified ad theme like adforest, you can be sure this theme is going to work outside of the box because the developer has done everything necessary to integrate the classified ad categories and page templates into the theme. On the other hand, some classified ad plugins don’t work with some wordpress themes. For example, WPadvert does not work with the Genesis framework.

If you choose a plugin, you will need to find the right theme that would match with the classified ad plugin.

Classified ad plugins benefits

The plugins focus on the functionalities, not the design. Consequently, the plugins have more functionalities compared to the themes. Also, since they aren’t focused on design, the texts and the graphics are lightweight. They look closer to craiglist or OXL. It is better for a classified ad website that gets a lot of traffic.  Since pages have less graphics, they are smaller in size. It reduces the monthly data transfer for the server.
